Patti Starr is the President and owner of Ghost Chasers International, Inc., which is based in Lexington, Kentucky.  She leads an experienced, accomplished, group of investigators with a goal to prove that life goes on even after death.  Patti sets out to find and document paranormal activity in the field of ghost hunting with modest equipment such as the Dr. Gauss EMF meter, Multidetector II Profi, Cell Sensor meter, and the Raytec Mini Temp.

Her investigative research for ghosts includes electromagnetic field detection, observing electrostatic field disturbances, capturing anomalous images with infrared videography, 3-D photography, digital photography, 35 mm photography, recorded EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) with audio recording devices, monitoring the temperature with laser thermal scanners, along with other advanced techniques to collect data.  Patti substantiates these findings by catching anomalies in her photos and videos, in addition to EVPs being captured on audio recorders and videos, along with the recorded results of the devices she uses to measure temperature changes and electromagnetic field disturbances.

Patti Starr arrived with her team of ghost hunters, Ghost Chasers International, at  the Bell House, February 1, around 2:00 pm for a ghost investigation, with permission granted by Dorothy Large.  Upon entering the doorway into this immaculately clean building, they were greeted by Helen and Nancy Short, student of Patti’s, which proceeded to show them around the building.  They decided to set up their equipment in the first room to the right.  As the members were getting the equipment and devices prepared some of the team began taking pictures with their digitals and immediately start getting orbs in their shots.

  Orbs are globe-shaped lights of energy caught on film usually during a haunting or other paranormal experiences.  Orbs are believed to represent the spirit of an individual that has died.  They are made up of the life force that powered their body in life.

The GCI group packed their ghost-hunting vests with cameras, recorders, meters, along with extra batteries and film and formed a circle to say their opening prayers to make sure they would be protected during their investigation.  Just as they finished the prayer Patti asked the spirits’ permission to take their pictures and for them to talk into their recording devices and she got an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) “Yeah” right away. 

The group became pretty excited to have gotten such quick results.  Usually it takes a while before the spirits will warm up to everyone before they’ll show themselves.  Patti did a quick scan of the area with my EMF meters, a meter that measure high levels of electromagnetic fields that emit from light fixtures, TV’s and other man-made objects, to see if there were any unusually high levels present.  She got a very minimal reading of any field. 

Once Patti had swept the area with her Dr. Gauss meter and her Cell Sensor Meter she took the TriField Natural EM meter and set it up on the mantel.  This device is designed for paranormal research and it picks up any disturbance in the static electric field or magnetic field and man made devices do not affect it.  As the group continued through the house, readings were experienced with the Multidetector II Profi meter while orbs were being captured in the digital cameras and on the camcorders.

Members of Ghost Chasers set up the video camera and were very lucky to get a moving orb in the same area of the room where they were getting the orbs in their digital cameras.  The orb moved from the right of the frame and travel slowly across the top to the left of the frame in the shot.  Even though this was the only moving orb, it was a great capture and they were very pleased to have gotten it.  The young man pointing to the area where the orb travels across the ceiling area is Jason Lewis, Psychic/Medium.

The investigative team continued through the building and each room seem to have it’s own story.  They had good luck with capturing orbs in the attic on video as well as with their digital cameras.  While different members tried dowsing in the attic they got an EVP on the recorder that said, “No” to one of the questions asked during the dowsing session by Paula Lewis, Certified Ghost Hunter.

The group gathered downstairs in the front room where they were continuing their good luck in getting many orbs especially when Helen and Nancy, the ladies guiding the group on the investigation, were standing together.  Patti would have them move to certain parts of the room and the orbs would follow them.  It was really a great experiment to see that all four members were getting the same orbs in the same area from four different shots and four different cameras.

During Patti Starr’s dowsing she contacted a spirit that was involved with a love triangle and his mistress was still roaming the halls of this old building.  It would be very interesting to see what other information they could gather if they could return for another investigation.
